Many are probably wondering what kind of gibberish title this is for a blog entry.
Those we know me - know that I have a little saying about myself. I call myself a "walking encyclopedia of useless information" - ok - so - look at that phrase and then the title of this article. It's not rocket science to figure it out now.
At any rate - one such example of this follows here:
A good friend sent me an e-mail with the following content -
An Interesting Fact . . .
At five minutes and six seconds after 4 a.m. on the 8th of July this year, the time and date will be:
04:05:06 07/08/09.
This will never happen again.
I thought to myself, "Well that's interesting" - and then my brain decided that "I am sure this must happen similarly next year."
It didn't take me long to determine:
Next near occurrence will be on 6 minutes and seven seconds after 5 AM on the 9th of August next year:
05:06:07 08/09/10
I promptly e-mailed this factoid back to the original sender (ok, and several other friends). Just when I though this was done, one of the new recipients e-mailed me back with this tidbit:
"That is cool. I guess it’ll keep on until 2014: 09:10:11 12/13/14
Ten minutes, 11 seconds after 9:00 on December 13, 2014.
That is, if we make it past 2012 - lol"
Once more proving my point about being the WEOUI - I instantly knew what he meant with the reference to 2012. It was a reference to the much-debated theory regarding the end of the earth based on the Mayan "Long Calendar".
By now, I am sure some readers are going - "What is this guy blathering on for?!?" Well, dear readers, I blather on like this because the wonders of the human mind never cease to amaze me. I can walk around with these basically useless pieces of info rattling around in my head for decades - but how many times have I walked into a room, only to realize I have no idea what my original reason for going to the room was? I am sure that each of us is a WEOUI in at least some small way. So what makes those things "stick with us" - and things like - "I walked into this room for a reason - now what was it" - occur?
